This INOX shim set from RetroArms is designed for precise shimming of gears with a 3mm axle.
The shims are made of stainless steel and feature laser-engraved thickness markings, allowing for easy identification and optimal adjustment—even if a washer falls off while testing different gear configurations. We recommend keeping track of the number and thickness of shims used on each gear (top and bottom) during the shimming process.
Proper shimming is crucial for the smooth operation of the gearbox. It eliminates play between gears and bearings, reducing wear, lowering noise, and extending the overall lifespan of internal components. Many factory-produced AEGs have inadequate shimming, leading to increased friction, faster wear, and a shorter gearbox lifespan.
