COMPETITION MultiGun Rig® Vest from Helikon-Tex

The miniature tactical vest / chest rig COMPETITION MultiGun Rig® from Helikon-Tex is designed for maximum flexibility and modularity in carrying tactical gear.
The front of the vest features two large pockets with hook-and-loop closures, each accommodating two pistol magazines or one short rifle magazine, or small equipment such as a pressure bandage.
The front of these pockets also includes hook-and-loop fasteners for attaching VELCRO patches. Beside them are two smaller open pockets, ideal for storing pistol magazines or multitool pliers. These pockets have elastic sides and a non-slip leatherette lining, ensuring secure storage.
The internal compartment for inserts (available for purchase here) is lined with fleece and can hold an insert for up to three rifle magazines. Below the smaller pockets, you'll find paracord loops, which can be used for hanging carabiners, gloves, or hearing protection.
The back of the chest rig is completely covered with soft fleece and includes six additional paracord loops that allow for attaching extra pouches compatible with MOLLE, greatly increasing the carrying capacity of the chest rig.
The H-shaped shoulder straps offer comfort and even weight distribution. They are adjustable in length and equipped with Fastex buckles for quick fastening.
The front part of the straps features four rows of loops with hook-and-loop fasteners for attaching smaller pouches, while the back includes a larger hook-and-loop panel for a name tag, for example.
The waist strap is partially elastic and has Fastex buckles on both sides for secure attachment.

Comparison: Chest Rig vs. Plate Carrier

The choice between a chest rig and a plate carrier depends on specific use and personal preference. A chest rig is suitable for dynamic situations and a plate carrier is ideal where ballistic protection is needed. Below is a brief comparison of both load-bearing systems.

Chest Rig
A chest rig, like the COMPETITION MultiGun Rig® from Helikon-Tex, is lightweight and less bulky than a plate carrier. It is designed primarily for carrying essential gear such as magazines, ammunition and other small items you need quick access to. The advantage of a chest rig is its mobility, lower weight, and quicker deployment, making it ideal for fast and dynamic actions, shooting competitions, or training.

Plate Carrier
A plate carrier is heavier and more robust, designed primarily to protect the user from bullets. In addition to storage options thanks to its MOLLE webbing, a plate carrier is equipped with internal pockets for ballistic plates, which provide protection for vital organs. It is therefore suitable for combat situations where protection from gunfire is a priority, but the downside can be reduced mobility and higher weight.
