High-Quality Hop-up Buckings from Maple Leaf

Hop-up bucking, together with a precision inner barrel, hop-up chamber adjustment system, and high-quality BBs, is one of the most crucial components affecting your weapon's accuracy and range. If you want to shoot farther and more accurately, it’s not necessary to overly increase muzzle velocity. It’s like stepping on the gas in a car without a steering wheel. Finding the right setup is an art, and everyone has their own that works best for them.
Hop-up buckings come in several variations, each designed for different types of inner barrels (AEG/HPA, GBB/VSR, Hybrid), muzzle velocity (shore hardness), outdoor temperatures (classic and silicone buckings), and most importantly, the intended use (range or accuracy).
The longer and wider the contact patch on the bucking, the greater the range that can be achieved. However, BBs may not be as precise as when using buckings with an arrow/diamond-shaped nub, which in the first phase of contact affects the BB with its entire width but narrows into an arrow, guiding the BB to a single point, thereby increasing accuracy and grouping, but not providing the same spin required for greater distances as a wider nub.
To help you decide, we’ve compiled an overview of the various bucking models below to make your selection easier. However, finding the perfect one is up to each individual.

Maple Leaf Hybrid Buckings

  • HOT SHOT
Hybrid bucking designed to use GBB/VSR barrels in AEG hop-up chambers, allowing you to pair, for example, an ML Crazy Jet inner barrel with a MAXX M4A Pro AEG chamber. However, it is not suitable for AEG barrels. The protrusion shape is the same as SUPER MACARON with centering ribs, making it designed for accuracy. Available in a lips variant suitable for AEG weapons or a variant without lips for GHK gas rifles. The manufacturer also states that the HOT SHOT and COOL SHOT buckings are compatible with sniper rifle chambers such as the Silverback SRS (standard and FAST versions).

  • COOL SHOT
Essentially the same product as HOT SHOT, including the AEG/SRS and GHK variants without a lip. The difference lies in the material; COOL SHOT contains more silicone, similar to silicone versions of SUPER MACARON and MR HOP, making this bucking suitable for shooting in cold weather, as silicone buckings provide consistent accuracy without needing to “warm up” through several shots.

Warnings

  • The recommended muzzle velocity is based on the BBs used; for example, if shooting 0.28g BBs, the recommended muzzle velocity is measured with those.
  • Suggested BB weight and muzzle velocity are purely indicative. It’s necessary to test different combinations in your setup to achieve the best results.

Recommendations

  1. Place the bucking on the barrel precisely into the hop-up window and use the lower guiding groove on the barrel to ensure even installation.
  2. Before inserting into the chamber, lightly lubricate the bucking’s outer surface with silicone oil (suitable for rubber materials) for easier installation. Never lubricate the inside of the bucking.
  3. Insert the barrel and bucking into the chamber without applying force. Everything should slide in smoothly with minimal resistance from sealing protrusions.
  4. The bucking lip must not protrude into the chamber to avoid nozzle jam.
  5. Test that the BB passes through the inner barrel before installing it into the weapon.
  6. Ensure the hop-up protrusion is centered in the chamber for proper function (accuracy), ensuring it doesn’t lean to one side, which would cause the BB to curve.
  7. A new bucking needs to "break in." It is recommended to shoot 200-400 rounds to achieve consistent hop-up effect (depending on BB weight and muzzle velocity).
  8. Start with minimal hop-up pressure for the first shots. Following this procedure will achieve much greater shot consistency compared to immediately setting the desired maximum pressure.
